Isobel arrives on a secluded tropical island expecting nothing more than a day away from the world a private beach, warm turquoise water, and an afternoon photo shoot beneath the palms. With several bikinis packed for the shoot, she eventually settles on a tiny green set that perfectly matches the muted colors of the island. The photographer follows her through the coconut grove, capturing her leaning against the palms, walking barefoot through the grass, and posing beneath the afternoon sun. At first, Isobel is playful and composed, carefully giving the camera exactly what it wants. But as the shoot moves toward the shoreline, her mood begins to change. The beach is completely deserted. White sand stretches between enormous granite rocks, and beyond them there is nothing but clear water and open sea. With no tourists, no crowds, and seemingly no one else anywhere on the island, Isobel becomes increasingly uninhibited. The green bikini that had been the centerpiece of the afternoon is eventually abandoned on the sand, just beyond the camera’s view. Isobel runs through the shallows, disappears behind the rocks, stretches out on the warm sand, and lets the waves wash over her as the tide comes in. She plays in the sand and enjoying the strange freedom of having an entire island seemingly to herself. What remains is Isobel alone with the island: sun-warmed skin, salt water, empty beaches, and the exhilarating feeling that for one afternoon there are no rules and nobody watching.
